Scáil Óir is a handcrafted Irish pendant made from ancient bog oak, preserved for thousands of years beneath the West of Ireland’s wetlands and finished with a subtle inlay of real gold leaf. As each piece is individually shaped, it makes every pendant completely unique, with deep black tones that contrast beautifully against the natural shimmer of gold here. It is suspended on a delicate gold chain and designed to sit at a striking angle. I drew inspiration from brutalist architecture as well as Ireland’s rugged landscape/coastline when crafting this. It represents the past and present of this ever evolving Island. A statement piece for everyday wear as well as that special night out, Scáil Óir (roughly translates to gold shade) is perfect for those seeking modern Irish jewellery, bog oak necklaces, or meaningful handmade jewellery with a connection to nature and heritage. Crafted from genuine Irish bog oak (sourced near Athenry or Sliabh Aughty mountains, Co. Galway), this pendant is a tribute to “the black stuff”! A little keepsake for Guinness, Beamish, Murphy’s, and stout enthusiasts everywhere. The black/dark brown wood settled over over thousands of years in oxygen-free peat bogs (older than your local pub’s oldest regular). Think of it as the original slow pour. A touch of gold adds just enough shine—like the perfect creamy head on a pint. Full details here.
Aimsir - pendant made from bog oak found near Athenry, Co. Galway which is estimated to be between 3,000 and 6,000 years old. The beautiful word Aimsir means weather, time and season - it is a pendant for all types of occasions! Full details here.
Saoithín- meaning "little wise one" or "my little treasure". It is not that little though - it's a fine lump of wood and gold! Full details here.
Caoilfhionn - meaning "slender" or "fair, white, blonde" is a pendant made from bog oak found in the Sliabh Augthy Mountains on the Clare/Galway border. It is estimated to be between 3,000 and 6,000 years old and I have finished it with a little 23.75ct gold leaf. This piece of bog oak is rather unique as it has some light coloured wood along the usual dark wood. Perhaps these parts of the wood were not exposed fully to the bog and peat which has resulted in this special colouring. Full details here.
